Structured cabling becoming more critical for intelligent building design
05/17/2011Engineers, construction workers and other individuals involved in the intelligent building industry are increasingly recognizing the importance of fiber optic and copper structured cabling infrastructure in design implementation. According to industry expert Bradley Hemphill, the intelligent building industry is quickly moving toward integrated structured cabling platforms to support more efficient and effective design principles. "The installation of certified, structured cabling is crucial when building a reliable and resilient intelligent infrastructure that can meet future demands," said Hemphill. "However, when installing such a cabling network, the partnership between manufacturers and integrators becomes vital in ensuring a quality end product." Hemphill said two definitive factors impact the success of any integrated structured cabling solution - working with a manufacturer capable of providing high-quality products and developing an engineering team capable of installing the integrated cabling solution. This is especially important, Hemphill said, because cabling manufacturers often make quality and reliability guarantees that need to be supported by the individuals installing the structured cabling infrastructure. Intelligent building is becoming key throughout the urban planning industry. At the Canada Green Building Council's recent symposium, industry experts explained green building, especially LEED certification, is becoming more popular.
